I just found this, but he did a very similar trip to me, and even stayed in the same hotel! One note About the people on the Wil...Great report! One note About the people on the Wildgarst, I don't know for sure but I think there is a way via the other side (I'm basing this on my own Google Earth survey). This won't make it an 1 AM start but rather something simular to where you where. It is, however, quite a bit higher so the thinner air will be a bigger factor.
